Jungfrau Region

The challenging hike up to the Rotstock Hut begins at the Schilthorn cable-car station in Mürren and takes you across meadows and through forests to the Schiltbach. A glimpse of the first highlight, namely the Bryndli summit, is visible at the Spielbodenalp. The trail continues via Wasenegg to the hut itself, where a longer break is highly recommended. The views of the snow-covered Bernese Alps and the delicious food make it easy to spend a while here before tackling the return leg through the rugged Sefinental valley.
Hiking to the Rotstock Hut

This enjoyable seven kilometer hike begins and ends at the Grimsel Pass. The views from the summit of the 2,764 m Sidelhorn are simply stunning: the snow-capped peaks of the Bernese and Valais Alps, the crystal-clear water of the mountain lakes, the gushing torrents, and the magnificent ice masses of the Rhone and Oberaar Glaciers. The descent takes you past the idyllic lake of Trübtensee.

The annual Grindelwald Märt is held on the first Monday in October. Lots of colourful market stalls show off their wares as the appetising aromas of cooked food waft through the crisp autumn air. There’s something here for everyone, from hand-knitted woolly hats to brightly coloured toys and all sorts of bits and bobs. Feeling a bit peckish? Then why not treat yourself to a portion of suckling pig, a poke of hot chestnuts, or a crêpe at one of the many food stalls.

The Airtime Café is renowned for its creative interior fixtures and furnishings, great coffee and home-made goodies. All made using regional ingredients whenever possible. A selection of beers from local micro-breweries round off the offer.
