Whether by land or by air – many ways lead to Bern

You are spoiled for choice when travelling to Bern, whether it is by train, car or plane. The canton can easily and conveniently be reached from all directions.

Arrival by train

There are direct trains several times a day connecting many European cities with the Swiss capital or the Bernese Oberland. Most international trains offer dining cars or a bistro, power outlets and newspaper service. Thus, the visitor’s holidays #madeinbern begin in a perfectly relaxed manner.

Arrival by car

Will you be travelling to Bern by car? No problem, just bear in mind that the motorways in Switzerland are subject to charge. The annual motorway charge sticker, called vignette, costs CHF 40 and is available at the Swiss border, service stations and post offices.

Arrival by plane

Bern is easily reachable by air from anywhere in the world.
The small Bern Airport situated in Belp has the advantage of quick handling procedures when arriving or departing. It only takes 30 minutes to get to the historic centre of Bern from the airport. Passengers can take a direct bus to the train station of Belp. From there, they continue on a comfortable train ride to the city of Bern or the Bernese Oberland.
Zürich Airport is the largest airport in Switzerland. It has its own train station where passengers can hop on a train without delay. The trip to Bern takes approx. one hour and 15 minutes.
The EuroAirport Basel Mulhouse Freiburg is situated right in the corner of the three bordering countries Switzerland-France-Germany. Bern can be reached by public transport in approx. one hour and 20 minutes.
Geneva Airport is the second largest airport in Switzerland. A direct train ride to Bern takes approx. 2 hours.
