In the autumn the spectacular ‘Rendez-vous Bundesplatz’ event plunges Bern’s Bundeshaus (Federal Palace) in fantastic colours, images and sounds. These productions are guaranteed to delight the audience’s eyes and ears.
For weeks on end in both October and November the façade of the Bundeshaus becomes an open-air theatre. Year after year, the 30-minute son et lumière extravaganza on Bundesplatz has enthralled some 600,000 spectators. Indeed, the spectacular show is performed several times an evening – and what’s more, it’s free!
Two to three performances a day
The multimedia performances begin at 7 pm and 8.30 pm. A third production is scheduled at 9.30 pm every Friday and Saturday. The only performance-free day is Sunday, October 20th, which is election day. At the ‘Bistro Rendez-vous’ on Bundesplatz, visitors feeling a little peckish can choose from a selection of dishes such as Älplermagronen (alpine macaroni), risotto and aperitif platters.
From the Earth to the Moon
The current ‘Rendez-vous Bundesplatz’ event retells the story of the first Moon landing in 1969. First Step is all about mankind’s dream of space travel, from the protracted developments of the Apollo 11 Mission to the astronauts’ first steps on the Moon.
